Founded in the late 1940s in Chicago, ORA costume jewelry was created by Oreste Agnini and Ralph Singer. Their first names have been combined to form the name "ORA". Although the early pieces were not signed, company documents show that they produced items for Eisenberg. ORA produced fraternal jewelry for groups such as the Masons, Lions, and Shiners, in addition to fashion jewelry. Following Agnini's retirement in 1953, the Singer family operated the business until Singer's son-in-law Ray Pausback sold it in 1984.
